In 2001, Honda presented new car of B class segment to the public naming Honda Jazz. The predecessor of the model did not succeeded much. Honda pickued old name Jazz for the novelty, so-called small city car in the mid 1980s. European premiere of Honda Jazz took place in 2003 in Frankfurt. By the way, in Japan, the model is popular with the name Honda Fit. Honda Jazz is built on a new platform and body of the model is difficult to identify due to its uniqueness as it combines features of hatchback, microvan, minivan, so it is often characterized as a compact wagon with increased capacity.

The outer dimensions of Honda Jazz is 3.82 m long, 1.67 m wide and 1.45 m high. However, thanks to the minivan structure of the body, internal volume exceeds the golf class cars. Compact suspension and small thickness of seats also increase the space of the cabin.

The salon of Honda Jazz also contains some creative solutions. Dashboard consists of three large dials: speedometer, tachometer and fuel level pointer. The rest of the useful information on the operation of units displayed as warning lights.

DSI (Dual Sequential Ignition) engine option of Honda Jazz are 1.4-litre 83 HP and 1.2-litre 78 HP. The peculiarity of this engine was to use two spark plugs per cylinder, which allows for full and efficient fuel combustion, while ensuring a high return and moderate consumption of gasoline. It is worth noting the excellent work of five-speed gearbox: such clarity switching and small moves of lever gearbox is rarely seen on small cars. In addition to the manual gearbox, as an option can be installed CVT, similar in design to those used on off-road vehicles. In this case, the transmission has seven fixed-speed and control elements are placed on the steering wheel. This option is available for consumers since Summer 2003.
